SWAT Equipment Vans

Roll-up door shelving, an 8-drawer unit, onboard power and red/white lighting in a high roof Ford Transit

A rolling equipment room for a tactical team: gear sorted into drawers and shelves, doors that close it all off, and power on board to keep radios, lights and batteries charged. Built, wired and tested in our Broomfield shop.

The full spec is below, so you can see exactly what goes into it. Every part of it can be changed to fit how your team loads and works.

A Hansen roll-up door with LED lighting, spanning the full width of the shelving. We mounted it under the top shelf instead of at the top of the unit, so the top shelf stays open for long poles and other long gear even with the door closed.
The bottom rail of the door, with a full-width pull bar. Rolled up, it tucks in under the top shelf and out of the way.
A strap hangs from the door, so it can be pulled down without reaching up for the rail.
Six-outlet power strips with USB on both walls, set between the shelves, so gear can charge right where it's stored.
Westcan aluminum shelving, about 90" long, 18" deep and 72" tall on the driver side, with four shelves and a center support. A 60" unit sits on the passenger side.
A 2000 watt Xantrex inverter and a 100 amp-hour deep cycle battery in a custom diamond plate enclosure under the bottom shelf. It feeds the outlet strips and the dome lights.

Not in this photo: the 8-drawer unit, the passenger-side shelving and the red/white dome lights. They're in the photos and the full list below.

Custom Modified

Roll-up doors, mounted where they work

A roll-up door normally covers a shelving unit from top to bottom. On this van we moved both doors down and mounted them under the top shelf. The door closes off everything below it, and the top shelf stays open for long poles and other gear that won't fit behind a door.

  • Driver side: a 90" wide by 65" tall Hansen roll-up door with LED lighting
  • Passenger side: a 58" wide by 65" tall Hansen roll-up door with LED lighting
  • Each door spans the full width of its shelving unit
  • A pull strap on each door to bring it down from the floor
