1099 Install Technician

Broomfield, United States

About Volition Components

Volition Components LLC is a commercial van and fleet upfitting company based in Broomfield, Colorado. We design and install shelving systems, storage solutions, and equipment for service-based industries such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and municipal fleets.

Our work ranges from standard accessory installations to more involved builds depending on the vehicle and application. We primarily utilize high-quality, off-the-shelf products while also incorporating custom-fit solutions when needed to meet specific job requirements.

We operate out of a dedicated shop environment with a small, experienced team focused on keeping production efficient and organized. Our team handles everything from scheduling and purchasing to installation and final delivery, working together to keep jobs moving on time.

Our typical operating hours are Monday through Friday during standard business hours, with work performed on-site at our Broomfield shop. We focus on maintaining a consistent workflow and reliable turnaround times so our customers can depend on their vehicles being ready when promised.

Our customers rely on us to deliver clean, professional installs that support their day-to-day operations in the field.

Position Overview:

Volition Components LLC is looking for a dependable 1099 Subcontract Installation Technician to support our team on an as-needed basis.

We specialize in commercial van upfitting, and as our workload fluctuates, we bring in additional help to keep production on schedule. This role is built for someone who wants flexible, project-based work and is confident working with vehicles and tools without needing constant supervision.

Most of the work involves installing off-the-shelf van equipment using established layouts and processes. That said, not every job is identical—some installs require small adjustments, light fabrication, or problem-solving to get everything fitting and looking right.

We’re looking for someone who can step in, understand the job, and execute efficiently while maintaining a clean, professional result.

Scope of Work:

This role covers a wide range of van and fleet upfitting work across multiple industries, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, municipalities, and other commercial applications. Because of that, the type of work can vary significantly from job to job.

Typical installs include:

  • Van shelving systems
  • Ladder racks
  • Floor liners and wall liners
  • Interior storage systems and trade accessories

However, this is not limited to basic installs. Depending on the job, you may also be expected to handle:

  • Light fabrication and modifications (cutting, trimming, fitting materials)
  • Installing hand-cut wood paneling in box trucks or cargo areas
  • Removing or working around vehicle components (ex: dropping fuel tanks when required)
  • Installing backup cameras and other basic 12V electrical components
  • Adjusting installs in real-time based on vehicle differences or product fitment

While many jobs follow a general structure, there is no “one-size-fits-all” install. Vehicles, products, and customer needs vary, so the ability to adapt is critical.

Work is assigned on a per-job basis, with compensation agreed upon in advance depending on the scope and complexity of each project. This role is designed to provide flexible, as-needed work, with opportunities for consistent projects based on performance and availability.

For the right individual, this position can grow into a more consistent workload and potentially transition into a full-time W-2 role, depending on performance, reliability, and long-term interest.

What This Role Requires:

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who:

  • Has strong hands-on experience working with vehicles, tools, and installs
  • Can work independently and stay productive without constant direction
  • Is comfortable figuring things out when something doesn’t go exactly as planned
  • Can make clean, professional adjustments on the fly when needed
  • Understands how to balance speed and quality to keep jobs moving
  • Is able to quickly learn how our shop operates and plug into our workflow
  • Can self-coordinate with our team, communicate when needed, and keep jobs progressing without being managed step-by-step

You should be confident walking into a job, understanding the scope, gathering what you need, and executing without needing constant oversight. We’re looking for someone who can catch on quickly, stay organized, and take ownership of their work while fitting into an active production environment.
