Custom 2000W Inverter Package

2000 watts of 120V power, in an enclosure we build to fit your vehicle

A Xantrex true sine wave inverter, a 100 amp hour AGM battery, a breaker box, outlets and a shore power inlet, all housed in a carpeted enclosure we build around your vehicle and how you work. The one shown sits over the rear wheel well of a Ford Transit, in space you weren't using anyway, with nothing left exposed in the cargo area.

We build the same package into vans, box trucks, trailers and other setups. The full parts list is below, and the location, size, battery and outlets can all be changed to fit what you run.

A Xantrex Freedom XC 2000, a 2000 watt true sine wave inverter/charger. It handles 4000 watt starting surges for motors and tools, and its built-in charger refills the battery whenever you're plugged in. Clean power that's safe for laptops, chargers and electronics.
A Square D 30 amp load center with a 15 amp breaker protecting the 120V outlets, plus a ground bar.
A 500 amp isolation relay. With the ignition off, it separates the inverter battery from the van's own charging system, so running your equipment doesn't pull down the van's starting battery. When the ignition is on, it connects them so the inverter battery charges as you drive.
A 12 volt, 100 amp hour AGM deep cycle battery, strapped down in its own compartment. Sealed and maintenance free.
The front panel swings up on a full-length piano hinge, so everything inside is easy to reach for service.
Built in our shop from 3/4" plywood and covered in gray ribbed carpet. It sits over the rear wheel well and behind it, with vent grilles to keep the inverter cool.

Not in this photo: the remote, the battery switch, the outlets and the shore power inlet. They're in the photos and the full list below.

How long will it run?

The 100 amp hour battery gives you about 500 to 550 watt-hours of usable 120V power before it should be recharged. Here's roughly what that runs, one item at a time.

What you plug inTypical drawAbout how long
Phone or handheld scanner charging10 WDays of charging
Laptop60 W8 to 9 hours
LED work lights40 W12 to 13 hours
Small 120V fridge or cooler (cycles on and off)40 W average12 to 13 hours
Cordless tool battery charger100 W5 hours
Label or receipt printer, in use50 W10 hours
Coffee maker900 WAbout 35 minutes
Microwave (1000W cooking)1500 WAbout 20 minutes
Circular saw or grinder1200 to 1500 W20 to 25 minutes of cutting

Estimates, not guarantees. Real run time depends on your equipment, temperature and battery age. Run several things at once and the times get shorter. The outlets are on a 15 amp circuit, so keep the total under about 1,800 watts at a time. The battery recharges from the van while you drive and from shore power when you plug in.

Need longer, or running something not listed? We can add battery capacity or step up to lithium. Plug in your own equipment list and see what it takes.
